Back to work full time. Teaching in Cambridge next week, then on the road for a few weeks. It is always hard to be away from home and Denise, I can only imagine that it will be much harder without being able to come home and play with Cadence at night. Not thinking about it now.

Late winter reading: escaping into the past. Victorian adventure novels, early (1920's) science fiction, and pulp detective stories. Yesterday's trip to the library netted the following fodder:

- Five Adventure Novels, by H. Rider Haggard (specifically interested in She and King Solomon's Mines)

- Science Fiction Classics, by Edgar Rice Burroughs (this has the next 3 Mars novels)

- Hard Boiled Dames (pulp detective stories from the 1930's)

Started Hard Boiled Dames last night, and read some more on the train in this morning. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
